Buspar is prescribed to treat generalized anxiety disorder. Often the doctors advocate this medicine for the treatment of other diseases too. But it is mostly used to affect the chemicals in the brain if it anyhow becomes unbalanced and is causing anxiety. You can also have this medicine with food or milk if anyhow stomach upset occurs. But always take the medicine as prescribed. Without the advice of the doctor you are not allowed to decrease the dose or take more than the general prescription is. If you forget to take one, and find that the times of next dose is nearby, skip it and go back to the normal dose.

It's not safe to have double doses. It is true, that the symptom will start to improve within 7 to 10 days the initiation of this medication. But there is the requirement of 3-4 weeks for the full benefit of the medication by the patient. But be candid with the doctor and tell him/her you medical history, whether you have suffered from any kidney or liver disease, any drug allergies. Also keep a close watch on alcohol intaking since it can intensify the dizziness and/or drowsiness effects of Buspar, for which you must be cautious while driving. Again if you are pregnant or engaged in breast feeding your infant, be open with the doctor. Or else it can be risky.

  Buspar side effects are quite common. It may cause drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, weakness, vivid dreams and sleeplessness, dry skin, blurred vision, altered sense of taste and smell, weight gain, muscle aches, ringing in the ears, nausea, and headaches. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. In case of any overdose, a normal happening, contact for the emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, and decreased pupil size.
