Use tetracycline. In these days, when more and more incidents regarding proven infectious diseases or those caused by susceptible bacteria are coming forward there is no other alternative! In general, the prescription is to have 1g to 2g usually dose. Whether the dosage can be increased depends on your doctor, in case of severe infections. But you should continue with the therapy for at least 24 to 48 hours after the symptoms sand fever have subsided. Never forget to have a talk with your doctor if you are hypersensitive to tetracyclines. Again, the use of tetracycline in the absence of a proven or strongly suspected bacterial infection or a prophylactic indication is unlikely to provide benefit and increases the risk of the development of drug-resistant bacteria. In fact, tetracycline side effects are not a rare concept and they are found to happen at regular intervals, though the symptoms do vary from person to person. They include anorexia, epigastric distress, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bulky loose stools, stomatitis, sore throat, glossitis, black hairy tongue, dysphagia, hoarseness, enterocolitis, and inflammatory lesions (with candidal overgrowth) in the anogenital region. In this respect, there is a need to continue with the dosage but in the most disciplined way. Remember, if you skip doses regularly or somehow fail to complete the full course of therapy, there is a possibility that you may risk a decrease in the effectiveness of the immediate treatment. There is also a distinct possibility that bacteria will develop resistance and will not be treatable by Tetracycline or other antibacterial drugs in the future. But in case of any over dosage seek medical attention at once. Again, if you are going through long-term therapy, periodic laboratory evaluation of organ system function, including renal, hepatic, and hematopoietic systems, should be performed.
